Ready to Ribble

 

It’s been a very wet day!  We’ve had rain of various intensity all day. So we had to dig out the waterproofs, the first time we’ve used them for ages.

There were no other boats on the move today, not that we met anyway, sensibly staying put and dry.  However we have our Ribble Link crossing booked for tomorrow, so we had to get to Tarleton, to be ready to meet up with the lock-keeper and Jim who is travelling with us.

I didn’t take many photos because of the weather, but as we started out this morning there were a couple of interesting things along the way, first the beginnings of a round house.

Then an unusual floating home,

  looked like a gypsy caravan style top on planks across two canoes!

And soon we were turning on to the Rufford Branch of the Leeds and Liverpool, taking us to the junction with the River Douglas, the River Ribble, Ribble Link, Savick Brook and Lancaster Canal.

But that will be tomorrow’s story.
