Get Ahead, Get a Hat

Her hat is a creation that will never go out of style; it will just look ridiculous year after year. - by Allen, Fred A

I have been wanting a hat, a warm hat, a prettier hat than my old 'First Mate' woolly one.  I've looked at hats in the markets and shops, and always think I could make one cheaper than that!
I looked up some recipes patterns and found a crochet one I liked on Lucy's blog at Attic 24, but I couldn't get it to go right and got out the knitting needles instead. After having a trial run getting the size and shape right, yesterday I sat down and got knitting.  About an hour later I had my hat, fitting just right.

The rest of the evening was spent playing with the crochet hook to make flower shapes to decorate it, also inspired by Lucy and now I have my hat........

So this is my creation, ridiculous or not. I shall wear it this year anyway!
Ian laughs at me, and has declined my offer to make him one too. (Even if I left off the flowers!)

  2. It's not Graham it's Jill (his name has hijacked my blog). I love it and would like one too please - any chance of doing some kind of jumper for Baxter - I've just paid £25 for something that's not long enough down his back. I think you've just found yourself a new job. I don't know why Ian is laughing - he should see what I'm wearing at the moment!

  3. Gosh, thanks ladies. I'm flattered. I'll happily make some more, let me know if you have preference for colours. I'll see what I can do.
