Birmingham Culture

Yesterday we enjoyed spending time in the Jewellery Quarter, where for many years fine jewellery and metalwork has been carried out by many small businesses.  We visited last year and really enjoyed the Jewellery Museum, this time we were just looking through the shop windows.  For the first time for ages we went to the cinema where we saw 'The Impossible', retelling the story of a family caught up in the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004.
Today we have been to the Gas Hall part of the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery where there is a display of art works owned by the British Government, housed and displayed in offices and official Government residences around the world.  It makes an interesting collection of art of all sorts.
We were hoping to get on a tour of the Symphony Hall, but unfortunately both the tours to be held in the next weeks are fully booked.  We may get to one of the teatime concerts in the cafe.
So we have also had time to look around the markets, get a haircut and enjoy lunch out.
