Narrowboat Tacet

Silent Movement - Our gap year travelling the inland waterways

Exploring more of the BCN

Today we set off to cover more of the Birmingham Canal Navigations, leaving our mooring by the NIA, which seemed fairly quiet except that at 2am we were out pushing Tacet back across the canal and tying here back up.  At least the ropes had just been untied, not cut!
On the new Main Line, under the Engine Arm Aqueduct.
Past the Smethwick Pumping Station
Down the Ryders Green locks
At the pound between locks 5 & 6 the water was................gone.
After checking paddles etc below us, we refilled the pound enough to get us through.
Onto the Walsall Canal.
In the sunshine.
A quick visit to Walsall town basin, for a trip to the shops and a visit to the art gallery - Damien Hirst exhibition.
Up the Walsall Town locks.
To Birchills.
Where beside the top lock is the old Boatman's Mission building.
We were hoping to get to Pelsall Common tonight, but it was getting late so we have stopped at Bloxwith in a very quiet rural section.
Just as we were tying up the sky turned to this wonderful colour, promising a good day tomorrow.

18 miles, 16 locks, 1 tunnel

  2. Do you often have people untie/cut your mooring ropes at night? It's a good job you woke up!

    1. It's the first time that's happened to us, but we have heard of others having trouble along here.
